Varieties of Self
Varieties of Self compares two interpretations of mental/neurological states: one involves self-evident clinical portraiture, the other uses an electroencephalographic (EEG) headset to measure fluctuations from ionic currents in the brain. Readings are programmed in turn such that signals physically appear as displays of light and explosion. The artist invited viewers to wear the EEG headset, and watch readings appear before them as abstract rays of light. This interactive installation took place at the 2015 DJCAD Degree Show and photographs were exhibited at GENERATOR projects members' show.
